Sorry about not posting sooner I think this story is great so far. I can't wait until she has time to deal with all the new information. Laura

Nan, I've been enjoying this evein if I haven't been commenting, but I wanted to tell you that I loved the way you eased in Lois's memory of things Superman had done that were really Clark and vice versa. Most revelations spend so much time going over how angry and betrayed Lois feels that we rarely get to see her put together her memories to make those truly stunning connections: that this hick/hack from Smallville is the most powerful man on earth, and that everything done and risked by that god in a cape was really done by her kind, unassuming partner.

Yeah, I know there are tons of personal, relational ramifications to any revelation, but Lois usually seems so completely self-centered in her reaction that she never seems to get around to wondering about anything else: did he know his insides were as invulnerable as his skin when he swallowed that bomb in front of me? How did Clark, who ran from an agressive woman like Cat, feel when all those women were bidding for him at the charity auction?

Anyway, it's just nice to have Lois thinking about some of those things. But Nan, now you have to write faster! Post faster! I'm feeling all too uneasy with Nigel still on the loose in the woods.

Nan, good instalment.

You have Lois making her way slowly and thoughtfully through her emotional turmoil over the fact that Clark is Superman. That way she will still have some 'questions' for the Man of Steel, and perhaps a few 'problems' but she'll have worked it out in a reasonable fashion and will be able to deal with this, and Clark, on a more rationale basis. Of course, that is supposing that she and/or Clark survives yet. Nigel is still out there and he doesn't like either one of them and I'm sure he's cranky over being shot.

Time to unleash the Whams.

Tank (who figures Nigel is waiting at the cars to ambush our valiant couple, knowing like a good spy that they'd probably get out somehow)

I don't know whether to cheer over the new section or grumble because it only moved us a little way. I know I've been terrible about posting Nan but I'm putting that down to having joined the working world. I'm now filled with awe for anyone who works in any capacity. These ten hour days are about to kill me!
Anyway Nan I've been following with avid attention and I can't wait for more. I have to agree with those who've praised the way Lois has reacted to the revelation. It's nice to see her react without blind fury.

Nan,
another good section, as expected.
I'm a little frustrated too because this didn't move a little faster.
I'm also worried about where Nigel is.
more soon please

Well, I'm back from a week with the relatives, and this was the first story I caught up on <g> Very nice work, Nan, although I'm very worried about Nigel, and you about killed me when Superman was gone so long, checking the cars.

I agree with the others that this was a good understated revelation, and I think that's why you brought poor Mr. Lini along -- with him there, Lois can't yell at Clark <g> and instead is working things through internally. I especially liked her realization that Superman hadn't been lost so much as Clark hadn't remembered him...

So when are you posting more? smile

Nan

Another great part! smile

I also like the way Lois is reflecting on her memories of Clark and Superman. Hopefully she'll have it all worked out by the time they're alone. biggrin

I'm looking forward to reading MORE.

I agree with what everyone else has been saying. Once again your descriptions are so vivid. My poor ankle (is it the right or the left?) hurts in sympathy with Lois's. Trying to make it over the rough terrain seems so real that I'm out of breath. Glad you gave Lini and Lois a chance to relax and talk. Lini's observation that even with all his power Superman is a nice person is an important one. I'm glad you put it in.

I'm ready for more...please.

Like Pam, I just got back from a week offline and this was the first MB story I caught up on! Is it too early to start my 2002 Kerth Best Overall nomination list?? This story keeps getting better and better -- the last three parts, Nan, in particuar have been really engrossing. More please!

Kathy (posting remotely from her parents' house and still unable to read her email, but at least I can get to the MB!)
