Okay. Nicholas Cage ruined it for me. I'm getting these links from the Superman Reddit, but I'm not looking anymore. I can't unsee Cage in that suit and the extensions. I'm afraid to go to sleep. I might dream about that awful mullet.
I think you found something worse than the aargh! Clark Kent in therapy?! Lex Luthor finding the spaceship? Was baby Kal El thrown clear of the ship on crashing or did he start crawling away and the Kents found him far removed from the crashsite? Definitely worse than the aargh.
Have you ever seen the reruns of Carol Burnett's show that they used to show on TV Land or one of those networks? The episode where she makes a dress out of a pair of drapes? LOL! This Batman outfit reminded me of that dress!
METV (a free over-the-air channel) is currently running the half hour Carol Burnett And Friends, which is what I assume you watched on cable, or were the whole hour-long shows run on cable?
It was Carol Burnett and Friends because sometimes the show would be one long skit or two short ones, etc. It was a while back, when I was in high school, and I keep thinking it was TV Land that showed it. My dad watches one of the free channels, now, that shows cop shows like Kojak, Rockford Files, Cannon, and others every evening. It might be METV.
I never understood the who is faster, Superman or the Flash, thing. Moving fast over ground is Barry's only power so he has to be faster. All of his energy and skill goes to that. He doesn't have to spread it around between various powers like Clark does. Barry is controlling just the one power, Clark controls multiple ones.
THIS is fun stuff. I've heard about the subject before from the RPG guys but I'm not a Marvel fan and neither is my dad, The World's Oldest Fanboy, so I never saw the proof of it until now.
My Martha Kent Is From The Future theory is a lot better than this! Right? I mean, why else is she constantly shoving Clark toward Lois Lane no matter how rotten Lois treats him? Martha knows it's the only way to get Utopia! "Sorry, son, whether you're a plant or not, you MUST marry her!"
I never understood the who is faster, Superman or the Flash, thing. Moving fast over ground is Barry's only power so he has to be faster. All of his energy and skill goes to that. Kate, on their April 15th podcast, THESE GUYS repeated what you said a month ago about who is faster- but they attributed the idea to someone else. The idea is going around, but I heard it from you first.
I've been trying to tell you guys for years, or it feels like it, that a lot of people all over the internet read your posts, many Superman and DC fans. I see things you say repeated all over. I first heard of the WTFAF thread and the Scardino Argh through groups and frwiends on Tumbler and Pinterest. I know you don't believe it but you guys started a talk about misheard song lyrics and a couple of weeks later, a story on misheard song lyrics show up on AOL. Now 'indisputable' evidence that the Flash is faster than Superman shows up a month after Kate mentions it. I think it's fun!
The AOL thing was coincidence. News articles appear as they happen, but even on college newspapers or high school newspapers the feature articles are planned well in advance of when they are used. I'm sure they are online, too. Never underestimate coincidence. And my mom told me about FOLC message boards because she used be one back in the day and used to post on the older archived boards and here way back when. I'm second generation FOLC. My daughters are neophyte third gens.
This is the worst Superman related podcast I've ever heard! The first part of it is ridiculous. The debate that failed. The guy brings up several complaints against Superman made by his detractors on why Superman is a bad character, and the woman, who is supposed to be defending Superman, never makes a valid point on why he's a good character! (AND she's so annoying!)I hope they don't do this anymore. It goes back and forth from good to bad more than any podcast I've ever heard! I don't give one whit about his personal life, I'll never agree with his views on education and teachers, but I will love Dean Cain for the rest of my life because he was my favorite version of Clark Kent and he respects both characters- CK and Superman. Plus, he has great memories of the show. I love all three guys.
She, forgot her name, disliked Superman, and Lois and Clark to the point of shuddering, and yet the guy, forgot his name, expected her to defend Superman in their debate? It wasn't a debate. It was Superman being dissed by both of them. I'm not going to say anything about her blatent dislike of Tempus Fugitive. The bright spot was Dean Cain's recorded interview. I second the thought that they should never discuss Superman again.
Unusual testimony to Lois. From Clark/Superman. I kind of like the line about keeping his glasses a little dirty. . . Not funny as in hilarious, but as in quirky or wishful thinking out loud.
Okay, okay! THIS is my last post before the board goes on it's magic mystery tour. Looks like the movie makers have discovered what the TNAOS crew discovered years ago: when you use a wind machine when "flying" the hair has to be slicked down to keep it from beating poor Superman's scalp raw.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 07/18/1509:18 PM
We have Frank Miller to thank for this endless argument! Get over it already, fanboys! Who cares who is smarter or faster or better looking or taller or more 'relatable?' (Notice I posted the one in Superman's favor. Nyah, nyah Batman.) I really am sick of this argument but I had to take a dig at my dad, TWOFB, who will argue both sides depending on who his opponent favors.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 07/18/1509:28 PM
Speaking of The World's Oldest Fanboy, he has this image as his phone wallpaper and as the protective skin on the back of his phone AND on his laptop. (Image by Alex Ross from "Kingdom Come.")
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 07/20/1508:37 PM
Your dad is like my brother. He's a big fan of both Superman and Batman and will play devil's advocate for both sides. He knows way more about both characters than I do.
This is for you, PMC. A nice tribute to a strong Clark in the Superman suit. No matter the adversity, he deals with it without giving up or falling apart. Then, the happy ending as it should be . . .
[quote=BevK]This is for you, PMC. A nice tribute to a strong Clark in the Superman suit. No matter the adversity, he deals with it without giving up or falling apart. Then, the happy ending as it should be.
Thank you! I love his angry looks of determination whether it's animation or live action. Lois is his support, his inspiration and his friend. She's not his crutch or his keeper. They both survived without each other and still can no matter what.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 08/15/1501:04 PM
LOL! He dropped a ton of hints, too. Kryptoman is a little too- I don't want to say goofy, but he is a little silly. As for the science, I really don't care how he does what he does as long as he isn't afraid of it or has to "earn" it. I don't know how anyone can like the early seasons of Smallville. How can no one figure out it might be a good thing for that boy to learn to control his abilities and not fear them?
Kate, whose nephews and neices are discovering Smallville
PS- How long can any Superman hold his breath? Certainly not forever. He has to be able to breathe to have breath of any kind, right? OK. You're right. I just said I don't care about the science. Never mind!
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 08/17/1512:53 PM
TNAOS Clark would have lived for twenty minutes. Movie Clark would have turned back time and talked himself out of the idea. MOS Clark would have died, too. He had to breathe just as Earthlings.
This is pretty cool. My aunt in KS still has her front S shield plate with the holder that says "Fan On Board Lois and Clark" I have the holder but no Superman plate.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 08/20/1501:16 PM
Here is an image from the current comic story about Clark outed as Superman by Lois Lane that our absent friend, Jake, mentioned in the WTFAF thread a few weeks ago. Clark goes home to his apartment and the whole neighborhood turns out to greet him and welcome him home. (Of course, they get in trouble for it. )
How cool is that? When one of my students wears a Superman shirt, boy or girl, they are my messengers for the day, and they turn polite on their own- holding doors, helping other kids, etc. I thought it was just me and them until I read this article.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 08/31/1512:37 AM
This guy is hilarious. I believe he is saying Superman didn't destroy Metropolis or Smallville and he didn't cause the deaths of thousands of people because he couldn't control where his body went when Zod or Faora hit him. I guess that's why MOS was able to look over one or two square miles of fallen, broken buildings and kiss Lois so romantically, because he knew he had nothing to do with it! It was all Zod's fault! Why does this sound familiar?
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 08/31/1507:22 PM
TIL (Today I Learned:) is a subreddit I love to read and sometimes share with my kids. Today I learned: Joe Shuster Way is a street in Toronto which, with others, is designed to look like the Superman shield.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 09/05/1508:56 PM
I'm getting curious where the stories involving Superman and Batman are going to go now that the really far out stuff is supposedly being halted, or reined in. What will happen to Commissioner Batsuit? Will Clark get to come back in some way?
I have to disagree with Dean Cain's ranking here, though I understand why it was done. He was a much better Superman/Clark than Tom Welling. Tom was a nice and angsty Clark but he was never Superman. CGI costumes and headshots with CGI capes billowing in the background don't make you Superman. The chicken held out to be made a producer of SV in the tenth season so he wouldn't have to put on the suit - IMO just so he could enforce the "no fights, no tights" thing the producers originally stated at the beginning of the series.
Of course, Tim Daly's 'portrayals' of Superman on the "Daly Show" are the best all around.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 09/18/1501:27 PM
They're both wrong! According to NN52A (Not-New-52-Anymore) canon, Superman doesn't lose all of his powers even when they are taken away somehow. A martial arts master is still no equal to him. Neither is the Ironing Man, in any kind of suit. Angry Bev said so. ( )
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 09/18/1504:29 PM
Absolutely. That's where the whining that Superman is TOO powerful originates- no one can beat him. Because he is invulnerable, impervious and power full.
As for Nicolas Cage- why could they not see he was not right for the part? Maybe Pete Ross, but not CK.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 09/27/1501:48 AM
Okay. That's it for now. I survived our first fundraiser and sat down to relax by looking for fun Superman items. Our sixth grade project this year is to buy at least two iPads for the art teacher's classroom so the students can look at their artwork online whenever the art teacher posts their stuff on Artsonia. (They don't have a smartboard in the art classroom.) We had a car wash today and washed 54 cars at $5 each. It's a start. It was fun. Getting doused with soapy water is a lot more fun than getting doused with ice water.
, I keep thinking of Nathon Fillion waving Tim Daly's cape on the Daly show! I wonder who the guy was who stopped the sliding car?! My cool, sophisticated teenage son still gets emotional when Giant makes his sacrifice, too, even though he knows...... Lois as a fanboy?
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 09/29/1509:51 PM
By all means, thank your mom! I haven't listened to Croce songs in a long time. P.S.- a lot of people have been under a rock the last few years! The League of Supermen video is making the rounds this week! Like it or not, Bev. When you have something to say, people listen.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 09/30/1504:59 PM
I can second that. Over the last two weeks I've seen a lot of people sharing the link in various places and saying things like "I can't believe I've never seen this before" or "Am I the only one who missed this?" Cool beans.
Kate, who picked up cool beans from Paula and now my husband and kids say it all the time
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 10/08/1501:34 AM
This is awful. I don't care about what some people think they are seeing, I'm ticked by the overall horrible artwork! I know Frank Miller's opinion of Superman, but does Superman really deserve this? It's got to be the ugliest rendition of him ever done.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 10/29/1504:03 PM
This is pretty close to what he did in TOGOM to discover a plausible way for Clark to be resurrected without going through the process of cloning, and probably how he was able to freeze and reanimate Lois twice without anything going wrong. Something in Hamilton's research touched on the subject.
Kate- I know you said that in your concordance entry of TOGOM
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 11/12/1502:18 PM
The top one is cool. I like that George Reeves has the best physique! The other one- probably because they're just sitting there like they don't have a care in the world! Not one crime is happening in that city below them. Their job is done!
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 11/13/1502:27 AM
Maybe all of that. I just know they both make me laugh, but there isn't anything really funny about either piece of artwork- except for Robin and Barry holding sandwiches(?)
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 12/24/1502:26 AM
There is a story about a good Samaritan who finds Superman unconscious in his driveway or yard and he takes him in and cares for him until he is better. When I first saw this gif- origin and purpose unknown- I thought "that's what the good Samaritan saw in his driveway."
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 12/28/1502:00 PM
Might as well add these, too, since they are related and just as funny, but also because they have been re-edited, too and the original links no longer work.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 01/13/1604:57 AM
I'm not sure where it comes from, but I like it. Supers
I downloaded it to my hard drive and opened it in media player. When it came up, just before the gif started to play, it looked like he was grabbing her boob!
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 01/30/1602:31 PM
I'll take your word for it. I'm liable to lose it if I go near ff. Is this still about the Lois who pretends to be gay because its so hard to be a successful and beautiful woman?
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/05/1603:11 PM
Yup. I wonder if there is a now a division somewhere in the governments of nations all over the world in the Superman universe that monitor their orbiting spy cameras for images of Superman and other airborne superheroes? Like in TNAOS where he is relaxing on a cloud and is disturbed by a flock of geese flying by.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/08/1605:59 PM
Turkish Airlines is tying in with the new BvS movie by advertising flights to Metropolis and Gotham and releasing a map of Metropolis and Gotham City. What does it look like to you? Island cities just off the coast of, perhaps, New Jersey? Delaware?
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/09/1604:35 AM
Lex does look like a little boy! Poor guy needs a stress ball to act friendly. I guess it helps him keep from punching the inferior person he's pretending to be nice to.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/09/1608:55 PM
Everything is going younger and badass now. I was just reading the "Archie" pilot will have Archie and Jughead as former friends with bad feelings between them- in a town with a dark underside to it. SmallRiverdale.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/10/1604:00 AM
Aren't they through messing with Archie yet?! Wasn't killing him enough? I was never a big fan but I read Archie comics now and then. They don't need to make him realistic! Yeah! He was fun and he should stay that way.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/10/1604:45 AM
Somebody thinks people want realism in everything. Angsty Superman, Ma and Pa Kent with no honor to share with their son, and now Archie with no laughter.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/11/1607:56 PM
He was experimenting with the superflare and the others were there to monitor it in case he needed help. There's been a lot of crap online about why is the rich guy making the reporter buy him lunch, but these guys have a sense of humor, as you can see.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/19/1603:10 PM
Action Comics #1000!! More Info Not surprised this is happening. The fanboys in the RPG were predicting this after their last comicon visit from what the artists and writers were saying away from the Q&A panels. Hopefully Superman will follow.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/19/1604:46 PM
I don't know who made this but it made me laugh out loud in my classroom just before class began. Had to do some quick explaining while slamming my laptop shut.

So they really are going to "fix" the storylines as much as they can. It just made me shake my head to read how Johns is ecstatic there will be an Action 1000 after all. Like he wasn't part of the decision to trash the "legacy" in the first place. Do you think long time fans will start buying again just based on a numbering change? By and large that's how it is.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/20/1611:43 PM
Story wise I don't see how they can fix anything. They're going back to the original numbering but the story will still be New 52. The legacy is still gone.

The collector's homepage with pics of Eddie Jones from "The Rocketeer." Homepage This guy has quite a collection, including "Funny Boy" props from "the Producers." (Remember the musical version of Hamlet? )
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/29/1610:51 PM
There are a lot of good elseworld stories, different origins for Superman. The original is the best, though. It isn't contrived or overly dramatic, just the right circumstances at the right time and the result is timeless.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 03/01/1612:49 AM
I've been late getting interested in the elseworld stories. My dad, The World's Oldest Fanboy, never collected them, but my brothers did and I'm just getting around to reading what they have.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 03/07/1603:27 PM
I just spent too much time reading the "Superman" comics #42 until now at Hello Comic. How are they going to fix this? How do you take back his loss of the secret identity? I loved Lana punching out Lois!
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 03/10/1603:17 PM
Hello Comic seems to not like to work consistently- for all their insistence that we share their free comics. Most of the comics I reference here, the elseworlds, etc., are available for free reading there. And by all means share them!

I thought you were reading the comics, Jake? I don't know which one it's in but I know it isn't Superman or Action. Maybe Superman/Wonder Woman? You know how the continuations go from one title to another.
Yay!! I asked my class and they said Wonder Woman #22! These kids are full of surprises!
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 03/26/1601:52 PM
Someone said this is how Superman should have saved Lois in the new movie. I think it's also how he should have saved her in "Requiem For A Superhero." Even though that is one of my favorite episodes. (The guy in the hat is Luthor.)
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 04/14/1603:28 PM
Remember what you said about evolution and super powers in Superman's descendants? Either kryptonian genes will adapt and become like human genes or human genes will start to react to yellow sunlight like kryptonian genes. Maybe Jor-El means that literally.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 04/17/1604:31 PM
Needless to say, I totally agree with this article. There Is Still Room For Good Guys In The World Despite what BvS's Martha Kent thinks. We are people worth saving and showing concern for us isn't a weakness. (Yeah, I put myself with the masses. According to certain fanboys only the beautiful can be Lois Lanes.)
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 04/26/1605:07 PM
My kids this year got very into PBS cooking shows- every year it's something different and unpredictable with the kiddoes. Anyway, they love A Chef's Life, Pati's Mexican Table- they sing along with the theme songs which are rather catchy- and Lidia's Common Sense Cooking because she often has her grandchildren on cooking with her. Come to think of it all three shows feature the kids/grandkids of the chefs in some way. Vivian Howard's kids are tiny, but most of the kids just have a crush on her.
Instant Bread recipe from Star Wars VII. It works. We did it in class and the kids were amazed.
We found several of these on Ebay and bought them with the extra money from our iPad fundraisers and made chocolate candies and Kool-Aid ice cubes- just like the pics on the auction page. This is the most fun I've had with my kids since the former class that got really into folk art watching reruns of "Rare Visions and Roadside Revelations!"
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 05/04/1608:09 PM
i was just reading that three actors who played Jimmy Olsen will be in Metropolis for the Superman celebration this summer! Mi hael Landes will be one of them.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 05/05/1612:02 PM
We're in good company. That was funny but I wonder why so many fanboys want Jimmy to be gay? And Kyle Raynor, too. (I'm assuming that's the Kyle mentioned.) Of course, Bruce plays the violin. But not a rock violin.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 06/29/1612:13 PM
I have nothing against Mr. Cavill as Superman or Clark Kent. He just has the misfortune- or maybe the misfortune is mine- to be playing a Superman I don't like. I wish it was different but he is never going to be the character so ingrained into me and many longtime fans. Of course, this is not to say he is not good in the material he has been given to work with....
Interesting musings. I don't agree with every interpretation he makes, but I agree Superman can still be relevant in modern times without going gangster. There is no good reason to make him a killer, no matter how unintentional the killing is.
This is a fun read. I'm good with remembering parents' faces, but I have a good excuse for not remembering my past students who recognize me and come running up to say hello: they change as they grow up! Actually, with parents I recognize the faces but not always who their kids were. If I associate the faces with a kid I can just say 'Hello, Mr. Smith' or 'Hello Mrs. Jones.' Otherwise I'm at a loss unless they say 'I'm So and So's mom.'
This spring, other classes added raised garden beds alongside the ones my class put up last year, so we have quite a few plants growing, and a trading of vegetables this summer. I've come to know the parents who volunteered to help tend the gardens on weekends, as well as a lot of the parents who volunteer every year they have a kid in the Superman week writing class. I've eaten a lot of tomato and cucumber sandwiches with the volunteers (parents and kids) this year. You never know what will influence kids during the school year, but I got a good feeling from several parents who mentioned having to buy boiled peanuts for their students who learned there was such a thing from watching the "A Chef's Life" cooking show in class last term- and then developing a taste for boiled peanuts themselves!
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 07/18/1602:32 AM
It was like reading incidents from my life! In my profession I have to look processional so if I can run around in sweats or jeans and a t shirt, I do it. If no one recognizes me I'm happy.

Processional?! I love your spellcheck! I'm so happy my laptop doesn't have a spellcheck!
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 07/26/1604:20 AM
Okay. I admit it. I watched this and I am now officially hooked on Crash Course Philosophy. I love the comparison to Lex- they are both persons and they both are not persons, but for different reasons. Spot on with Lex.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 07/27/1604:54 AM
He is an engaging speaker and his material is interesting and thought provoking. He reminds me of Spencer Reid on Criminal Minds! I'm going to watch another one.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 08/06/1611:46 PM
I don't know who dominates here, the morph is so good, but the Bruce Wayne morph is dominated by Christian Bale. I couldn't even see Clooney or Kilmer in it.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 08/23/1601:43 PM
Superman GIF A longtime favorite of mine that a lot of new fans or New 52 Superman fans don't like. Alex Ross is a great artist, but I agree a lot of his characters look alike. Clark and Bruce could be brothers. I like this 'realistic' take on the characters, though.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 09/09/1605:08 PM
DCFU Reddit Superman Fan Fic No, it's not what you might guess. It's the DC Fan Universe with some fic I've never read before. Take note there is also a fan fic contest.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 12/19/1608:56 PM
This is such fun!
As I've said before all this stuff comes from the Superman/superhero reddits and lots of internet searches- Google, Bing, all of them including AOL. There is so much stuff out there! Go look for yourself and maybe share something fun, funny or good. Some of the links I got from my past and present students who roll their eyes but indulge me in my love of all things Superman. Even Lois.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 12/24/1601:33 PM
A Fan Story This is a real fan story, plot holes and all, with a lot of fanfic ideas I recognized that might have been plucked from archived stories and put to use here. Some ideas are universal, I guess. Or they just make sense when considered.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/20/1704:37 PM
Super Traits I agree with all answers, with reservations about JIsrael's. (And if you believe that, I've got a real nice bridge for sale in San Francisco....
Fun but some questions are actually pretty hard. Got an 80, not quite a greatly knowledgeable fan. My brother got a 55- you are not a Superman fan, and he knows way more than me.
It is adorable. I've been a fan since I was seven and saw the first two Christopher Reeve movies. Finding L&C reruns on TV was a dream come true. Superman and a Clark Kent I really liked. I've been a Lois and Clark fan ever since, leaning in Clark's direction.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 04/19/1706:36 AM
If you've read the Lois and Clark comic miniseries, you are familiar with this page. This is a Lois with no regrets about not being able to work at her career. She is content just to be bonding with her child and is happy with just the three of them together.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 04/21/1706:08 PM
This is not the woman from fic who would dump her husband and family to run around the world for years looking for that one Pulitzer worthy story to get her the big prize at last. I like this Lois.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 09/10/1702:06 PM
Hi, Bev. That was a good idea. I like the more modern dress of K and Eddie, though. SV Kents were too young, I think, but they fit the era of the show.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 10/15/1708:01 PM
Did you ever read the message Clancy Brown wrote on the guest book for J. Madison Wright a few days after she died? This made me cry as much as that did. Both are very moving.

I'll bet that was touching. Clancy and Madison had such a great relationship on the show. I'd love to read that. Where could I find it?

Thanks for the link. That was very touching, indeed. So sad that Madison died so young.
This is a good review. Doesn't pull any punches and puts the emphasis for success where it belongs- on the characters and the actors who brought them to life. It's also fun that we've said many of the same things over at the Fanfic Related Forum many times through the years.
You're welcome. People are taking notice of the show now. This is one of the best and most honest reviews I've heard/read so far. Justin Whalin did a good job portraying Jimmy's growth, but I liked that Michael Landes got his due for doing so well in getting the character established in the first season.
November 7 is traditionally recognized a...optive mother. (November 7 is traditionally recognized as the birthday of Martha Kent, Clark Kent's adoptive mother.) Lois and Clark is full of memorable Martha moments. From the show, I guess I like the time she pushed Clark off his balcony to try to get him to fly! If I was a family friend, I guess I would give her something creative like medium weight drawing paper and a set of pencils and pastels.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 11/27/1712:41 AM
From Superman, The Movie:: The possibility never entered my mind, but it is something to think about. Quote from a blog post :
"Anyhow, I'd like to digress about Lois Lane for a moment. For 1978, this isn't a bad depiction of a love interest. Lois is a self-assured and successful reporter. Yeah, she faces workplace sexism from Perry White, who puts Clark on her beat, and she can't spell very well but it never deters her. Speaking of Lois' spelling, is she dyslexic in any of the comics?
I had a quick Google last night but found nothing. According to Wikipedia, her struggle to spell words in this movie has been incorporated as part of her character. At first, I thought it took away from her character, asking men for help but if she was made canonically dyslexic, it would make sense and imagine that representation for children. A female reporter who is the best at what she does despite a learning difficulty. It would be so empowering for such an iconic character to be this relatable and it's not just a PC decision bigots can moan about because it's in continuity.
Other than that, Superman does make Lois seem a bit...desperate? When Lois interviews Superman (reduced to a cold, clinical interrogation in Man of Steel) on her rooftop, she's dressed up, she asks him if he's married, how big he is, whether his dick works and can he see what colour her knickers are. Now, the joke about Lois being "thirsty" in Justice League makes sense even if it's unnecessary and sexist. heck you Joss Whedon and heck you DCEU for criminally under-using Amy Adams. Anyway, I do love this scene in Superman. The back and forth flirting, the foreshadowing, giving you information you need to know for later. And this:
Lois: "Do you have a girlfriend?" Superman: "No but if I did Miss Lane, you'd be first to know about it"."
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 12/01/1703:41 PM
I just wish TNAOS Lois didn't have so many trust issues. She needs to grow up a little. Giving her a medical reason? She can't control her emotions in the show or in fanfic. She's too selfish, or self centered anyway. Her symptons are immaturity and nothing counseling can't help.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 12/27/1707:44 PM
Hi guys! Nice to see posts from you still coming. I can look back on AA and still like it, and I don't think what is happening now will change that. I didn't like Landis before and I don't now, but it doesn't affect how I see AA.
Re: Nightwing: TNO..Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 01/01/1805:18 PM
Has anyone been reading Nightwing: The New Order? It's a six part series where Dick Grayson has helped outlaw and neutralize superpowers and hunts down all those who once had them. I read the comics on my dad's Kindle and some issues were pretty wild, but somehow it all comes together in the end. The Kindle TPB is on sale now, kinda pricey, but worth it to get to the last issue. (Even with his superpowers gone, a certain guy is still fighting for truth, justice and all that other good stuff he stands for. So who does the team go to for help when they discover the new order might not be what it seemed?)
Re: Theyre Back! Issue #1000- Just Because It's - 01/20/1805:11 PM
It had to happen, right? So get ready for a new round of jokes that stopped being funny after the third or fourth times you heard 'em. Of course, I/we fans of them did our whining and crying back in 2011 when they were taken away so its time to listen to the ones who didn't like them whine and cry because they are making a reappearance.

There is whining already and they probably won't even stay around! There is no indication they will last longer than Issue 1000, but it's still good to see them again.
Re: Theyre Back! Issue #1000- Just Because It's - 01/29/1805:16 PM
Hi, Bev! I was cruising for new activity and this popped in! To be honest it could go either way for me. I'm used to the new suit now so trunks or no trunks will be fine.
Kate, sorry to see Supersons come to an end. We really liked Jon. He was a kid, not an adult in a kid's body.
Re: Theyre Back! Issue #1000- Just Because It's - 01/30/1804:45 PM
Yes! Supersons and Nightwing: New Order were good "mini-series" comics, as it were. I like how the next gen is portrayed. They are likeable kids. Super Man is also still going strong. I liked seeing him in cosplay at a recent con- as well as Hernan Guerra, the Hispanic Superman from Justice League: Gods and Monsters. (Paget Brewster is the voice of Lois in that film, Jason Isaacs is Lex Luthor and Benjamin Bratt is Guerra.)
Re: Just Because It's GETTING SCARY! - 02/03/1806:15 PM
After #1000 Why is this scaring me? Is it just me? This part of the interview especially:
"With his first step into the DC world coming at such a special point in Superman's publication history, and taking such a huge step toward significant changes in the character’s life, Bendis was obviously under a great deal of pressure. "Handing in that script was as nerve racking as anything I've ever done," he admits. "Not only was it my first statement on this universe I've just joined, but it's in the middle of this amazing anniversary filled with not only the greatest comic book creators of all time, but literally my heroes. There are people there who I look at in complete awe, and it was an honor just to be asked for those ten pages, let alone the first ten pages of what will hopefully be a long and successful run."
As for his Man of Steel miniseries, Bendis hints at significant upheaval ahead for Superman. "It's a big weekly Man of Steel event," he said, continuing, "It’s six issues, and I’m writing all of them. They’re telling the giant new story that’s the status quo, what’s going to be going on with Superman and Metropolis and everything around him. Again, it’s following up on the big bombs we drop not only in Action Comics #1000, but following up all of those beats and digging in even deeper."
The lineup of artists involved in the miniseries is enough to humble any writer, as Bendis makes clear. "Every single issue is being drawn by one of the great DC artists working today, who are also some of the greatest DC artists of all time," he noted. "I’m very honored to be doing my first project with all of these artists I’ve never worked with before, who I think are amazing. The only artist I’ve worked with before in the run is Kevin Macguire, and I wouldn’t do this without him, because I think he’s one of the greatest DC artists of all time. But then I get to launch with Ivan Reis, Doc Shaner, Jason Fabok, and others who’ve done amazing runs with the character or who’ve been waiting to do very special thing with the character. I’m very honored they all said yes to this."
While keeping as much secret as he could, Bendis was willing to give us a little hint about what to expect from the miniseries. "The Man of Steel story will debut a huge new villain, a blockbuster villain who connects deeply to Superman’s origin story and to his birthright," Bendis revealed. "We’re going to dig in very hard, this is one of my goals, to be a additive to Superman as possible. The characters we debut right away, including this new villain, will send ripples of horror across the entire Superman family and beyond!"
After Man of Steel's publication, Bendis will take over writing duties on the monthly titles Superman and Action Comics. The Superman monthly will relaunch with a new issue #1 on July 11, while Action Comics picks up with issue #1001 on July 25, and each will have a different approach and tone. While the main Superman title will be an adventure-driven book, Action Comics will delve into Clark Kent's daily life.
But when the two regular monthlies pick back up, things won't be the same in Superman' world. "The fallout of Man of Steel #6 is enormous," Bendis insists. "It's some of the biggest status quo changes to Superman literally since Crisis. So we'll be launching Superman with a brand new #1, and that's going to be very Superman-focused and big DC action stories. Action Comics will be launching with #1001, I'm very happy to say, and that will be focused more on Clark and Metropolis and the Daily Planet, and how the world of Superman effects the world of DC."
Bombs? I don't like talk about bombs! A new #1? Why does it need a new #1? The only good thing I see is the elder Kents coming back. The rest is scaring me.
This the Max Landis story that was deleted from the Christmas collection, DC Holiday Special 2017, due to the allegations made against him in December. I think it is a good story. He does have an understanding of Superman and Clark Kent. Whatever the truth is about the allegations, I will give him that much. I'm printing it before it disappears. Considering all the fan fic nstuff that have happened in that car, TNAOS version, RIP pal.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/06/1805:07 PM
I agree, for all his faults, allegations aside, Landis is a Superman fan. This story is almost cute, as far as he goes. It would have been the best in the collection if it wasn't pulled. The other stories were not that interesting, as I recall. I do like the more modern, or progressive if you will, Lois and Clark as presented by the comics and some fics that let us see them dating and interacting as a young couple. That is a totally untouched area in TNAOS fanfic for all the complaining about it. They don't have to be actual stories, just little scenes to show them behaving as a young couple. And bring Lois into it instead of every description being from Clark's point of view. Twenty years of reading how beautiful Lois is IS GETTING OLD! Get over the infatuation with her! It can be done without turning her into the obsessive jerk Clark is! There is talent enough out there. I've seen and read it.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/07/1805:10 PM
There is a problem with that. Jumping on Lois doesn't even LIKE Clark that much until after they do get married. Her walls were up and fully functional right up until Lex kidnapped her and replaced her with the clone. That little chat on the church steps showed it plainly. Then the next four months with Lex and Deter happened because those walls were still standing high and mighty and being reinforced by Lex and Mad Max as well as herself- in one memorable case by Lois herself begging Mad Max to help her get that idiot partner/fiance of hers out of her mind. After all that: Is it really any wonder that Clark let her go off with Lex? Is it truly something no one can understand? Minus the MM part, of course. All we'd get are stories of bad dates with her flinching away from his touch, that inner ff voice of hers questioning every positive reaction to him with derision, lots and lots of board games, too many instances of Lethal Weapons and a pizza- with her falling asleep all alone on the couch- or her fear of intimacy making those wonderful kisses from the series nonexistent in ff. In all these years NO ONE is interested in writing happy fun stuff about Lois and Clark.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/19/1804:15 PM
I don't know where this is from originally, but it's funny, and it's on the FB page of The Super Museum. Aww, what a clever use of seashells, you modest man, you. Super Antics #11 I've been following THIS PAGE since they featured Dean Cain's tour of the museum last summer. There is also an awesome George Reeves montage by artist Todd Aaron Smith just below it.
And keep scrolling down for a funny film of the superhero gym! Oh heck, just look through their picture gallery, too, for the giant poster with all 1000 of the Action comics covers.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/19/1804:47 PM
I've got this! 60 smackers! ($59.95) Lois and Clark from TAS The girls have one, too, but they opened theirs. Every time I look at it, I imagine: "Why are you angry?" "I'm not." "Then why are you clenching your fists?" "I'm flexing." "Well, stop it!" "No." "Then I'm going to flex too!" Wearily: "Lo-is."
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/20/1805:28 PM
We've been having a lot of fun going over the timelines of both museum sites. I was trying to explain who William Katt was- the greatest American hero with the greatest American icon. I need to get some GAH DVDs so the kids can see the show.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 02/21/1804:13 AM
I remember GAH, too, but my older siblings let me watch "Carrie" on Cinemax when I was about 11 and William Katt will always be the guy who took Carrie to the prom to me!
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 04/29/1801:51 AM
Nice Discussion of Superman and Jon I agree that Jon is the best thing to happen to both Superman and Lois in a long, long time. I enjoyed reading "Supersons" and even came to like Damien though he got on my nerves in the beginning issues. I hope the new directions the comics will be taking with Bendis in charge don't alter the relationships in a negative way. Don't let another new numbering start over ruin what has been established. I like this Kent family.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 05/05/1809:30 PM
I know nothing about the new guy but my kids know his past work and think he will keep the dynamic going. Look at me using their terminology. I will be so vocal and get my pin friends to flood DC again if this family is changed for the worst in any way. Lois and Clark have been established as loving, caring parents of a well adjusted and remarkable little boy. Considering the circumstances of their lives, the writers have given the family a solid basis to grow from.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 05/11/1801:35 AM
Everybody Has A Superpower. Kid power. They are amazing when they get to do what they can. I'm watching with amazement how kids are finding their power and using it. BTW, the blog is open.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 06/23/1803:28 PM
This is great! Are there any more of these? There is somethi.g to be said for a baby Clark with all of his abilities but I like it better when he has to learn as he goes. Wouldn't he be too traumatized by all the things he breaks and all the people he unintentionally hurts? Ma and Pa especially.
I don't agree with all of this, but most of it is true, harsh but true. Much as I liked Erica Durance, I think Teri Hatcher should be ranked ahead of her. Durance's Lois was much closer to the young woman I know and grew up with but even though Hatcher's Lois is less so, her portrayal made fans out of a lot of us Superman fans who never gave Lois a second thought before. She made Lois integral to the Superman story. (Something Bendis doesn't see. IMO)
Now this is something to think about. Is It why the Kent family has been "dismantled?" So Lois can write a kiss and tell about being married to Superman? She's going to out him again???!!!! The last time she did that she was eventually wiped out of existence.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 09/19/1810:30 PM
I don't have access to the naughty boards so I'll try to be discrete here. My son and I just saw the leaked images of the latest Batman comic where, for some reason, DC decided to allow all Batman fans a look at Bruce's (whispering) genital area. No kidding. It's there in the shadows in the comic panel. Word is it will only be visible in the hard copy comics. Digital comics will censor it. We're still wondering... why include it in the first place? I was going to include a link but just google it.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 09/19/1811:26 PM
LOL! I saw it, too, when it came to my phone in my news-feed. This is the new adult R-rated line of comics from DC, Black Label. If you remember, there was mention of a Lois Lane comic proposed for Black Label a few months ago. I wonder how much of Lois we might be seeing some day? I posted a link at RJ's.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 09/25/1804:33 PM
AFAIC, this subject was talked out, joked out, 'eewed' out after the second day, but now they're bringing Superman into it! It's CBR milking it for all they can! I like CBR's website, but they are going too far with this.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 09/26/1803:12 PM
Yeah, I'll never agree with Mr. Cain politically, and he really pissed me off last spring when he mocked one of the Parkland teenagers but that said, he is still my favorite Superman/CK and always will be. I can still watch this show and appreciate how good looking he is and how he played the role so good is spite of his inexperience. Listening to Lane Smith's stories, as Cain said in the DVD commentaries, did him good!
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 10/03/1805:50 PM
She might be like my boss. A two cup maker on her desk with a drawer full of K cups and flavored creamer and bottled water on the floor. With all the chocolate and candy flavors, she might be able to do away with the crunch bars.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 10/18/1811:25 PM
That would be nice. We need another bright, hopeful and likeable Superman. He wasn't meant to be a dark, mopey, character. I know people point out he started out that way, but they changed him. For the better.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 10/31/1810:34 PM
I was hoping for an update. I really miss you guys. I think this thread is the only reason I still have a link to this forum at all. So at the risk of being frozen out for mentioning it, do you still get together and talk about that certain subject (somewhere I can go and listen in?) I really miss the humor and the laughs and the crazy theories and that's the only reason I joined. to say that. That whole business was badly handled but that's just me.
I never liked the Bizarro universe. It was always too creepy for me. But still, there is a Lois and Clark over there. "Hate you so much," they say as they kiss.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun or Weird - 03/28/1903:20 AM
I Knew There Was A reason why I don't like the Snyder Superman trilogy. Lois dying, Superman turning back time to undo it . . . that was done already. So . . . he thought he could make it work better? I agree with the fanboys at r/superman
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 03/28/1903:52 AM
This is way off topic but it made me laugh, so here it is. This is a writing prompt from one of my reddit subscription called, r/WritingPrompts Yeah, that boy did have supernatural trap building skills.
Just to mention something associated with Superman, this prompt had me yelling out loud "Tempus!"
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 04/18/1912:21 AM
This Is Making the rounds again in my internet circle. I can't believe it's been six or seven years since I first saw it. I've always likened it to something Superman does nearly every day. The people greeting him as he passes over. It would be awesome if it you could see him flying overhead like this.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 06/06/1904:52 PM
Absolutely. I wish all fans could see him this way, but coward Clark/Superman is still alive and well. Thank goodness for artists and writers who understand Superman. They still give us gems like this. Nice to see you still check in over here, too, Bev.

Yeah, well, Kate and I have a lot of concordance episodes done. While her grandmother was so sick she finished season one and started on season four. I finished season two and have done some of season four, too. We did the Lex Jr./Trey episodes from season three and that was fun. I'm keeping a line open just in case that project starts up again. If nothing happens by the end of this year we'll either dump them or find someone to edit them and we'll put them up in an unofficial format and dedicate it to Zoomway. It's a worthwhile project and even an unofficial site should be fun to have.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 06/08/1904:24 PM
Go for it. If it was me I'd dump it and be done with it. No one is interested anymore except you two and the promise to do it to Zoomway. But. If you do something include both the edited and unedited versions somehow. I know I would read both.
Re: Just Because It's Funny or Fun - 10/04/1911:26 PM
I was not a Smallville fan so I read a few of the Season 11 comics but never got into them. Like a lot of the fans of the show I just assumed the comics were canon since they were called a continuation of the series from the start.
I can't see anything interesting without the Lois and Clark dynamic being a part of the story. Bendis says Clark will still work as a reporter but the emphasis will shift to Lois and Superman. So slut shaming will be fixed but at what cost? This new direction for Superman is just too different for me. This is the New 52 all over again. DC is giving fans what we've always wanted deep down but just don't know it yet. Pass.
