CLOIS: "How Far We've Come" Project

This is a BRAND NEW *EPIC* PROJECT I began that I hope will excite Clois fans, old and new, worldwide!

For anyone who doesn't already know, Season 9 of Smallville has FINALLY given us TRUE Clois (Clark + Lois). It has been nothing short of spectacular, and the best is yet to come when new episodes return January 22nd, 2010! But it is important for us to remember that this relationship has been building for FIVE years, and it has always been fascinating and fun to watch!

Have you ever had a friend or family member who shows some spark of interest in Smallville or Clois, but they just don't want to pursue it because of the intimidation factor that comes with walking blindly into a TV series that has been on the air for 9 years? There is a lot to catch up on and aside from finding time and ways to watch virtually EVERY SINGLE episode, it is extremely difficult to draw new viewers to a TV show that has been on for such a long time!

Which is why I had the idea that maybe if I could come up with a way to get most of the pertinent moments in a shorter time frame - people may be more likely to step in and watch. Or at the very least, allow their interest to be piqued. wink

I've actually had some people tell me that my Clois Countdowns have gotten them curious enough to watch the show, but of course those can be confusing because nothing is in true chronological order in a Countdown.

That said, however, this entire idea was essentially inspired by my Clois Countdowns. Some of my YouTube pals here have asked me to do a Countdown for Season 9 already - which I see as kinda pointless because I will only have to start all over again in the summer once Season 9 is complete. For the record, I WILL be doing a Season 9 Countdown - I'm just going to wait until summer so I have ALL of the Season 9 moments to work with. Still, out of those requests, this CRAZY idea was born. wink

I look at this as something like a "Clois Starter Kit," for lack of a better term. I've taken most of the monumental moments from seasons 4 through 9 and compiled them into a single video. Granted, that video turned out to be FIVE *HOURS* LONG, LOL ... so it is basically more like an epic movie ... but still.

There will be a Playlist set up so you can watch all of the videos easily, in order.

The moments are together and presented purely in their original form. It is my belief that this entire project video can stand alone for the most part. So you should be able to show this 4 1/2 hour set of video clips to a person who has never set eyes on Smallville, or Superman even, and they will likely come out of it with an appreciation for Clois and the relationship that the fans have happily watched develop over the last 5 years!

Of course, it serves a good purpose for true Clois fans like us as well because it is a nice way to relive all of those moments without having to dig through numerous DVDs or files on our computers, etc. The clips are arranged in order AS THEY HAPPENED on the series, so there is no wondering "what happened first" or anything of that sort.

I'm calling this project "Clark and Lois: How Far We've Come," Because it is appropriate, for obvious reasons. Originally I used the song "How Far We've Come" by Matchbox 20 over the credits, but YouTube didn't like that so I had to get rid of the song.

I truly do believe someone could watch this 5 hour "montage" of Clois and come into the series fully prepared for almost anything Clois related. Obviously I didn't include ALL of the Clois moments, because that would have been a lot more than 5 hours ... but I tried to pick the moments I felt were defining for Clark and Lois in their growth as friends and as a couple.

It is funny to me that, as it turns out, almost 3/4 of the entire video takes place in seasons 8 and 9. If that doesn't make a HUGE statement as to how fortunate Clois fans have been over the last year I don't know what does! wink

Since it is 5 hours long, I will have to upload it to YouTube in SEVERAL parts ... at least 20 or more. I may actually reserve this project to a completely separate YouTube channel, depending on how things look.

Thanks, and I hope you enjoy the Clois Journey!! smile

Part Twenty-Seven has this message and no video:

This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Warner Bros. Entertainment.

Personally it seems ridiculous that you could have twenty-six previous parts and part twenty-six still works, by the way, but then one more constitutes infringement of copyright. Try re-uploading it as "Part Twenty-Six-A" biggrin

I do enjoy the scene with Lois and Oliver in clip 26. I've seen Justin Hartley since the old Passions days and he just gets better and better. Oh, that reminds me, it looks like Green Arrow in the comics is getting Smallville's version of the costume.

He has a recurve bow instead of a compound one like on Smallville, but that's definitely the costume.

^^^Yep, I don't know why. I've tried uploading Part 27 three different times. Sometimes with no title or tags, even edited the video slightly thinking that might help. Uploaded it on my backup channel, too, but I always get the same result. Blocked worldwide. frown When I try to bypass the copyright by citing "fair use," that's when they nailed me with the message you're seeing now.

So ... in other words, I'm not going to be able to go beyond part 26 because YouTube is just stupid. frown

Gonna see if I can try and make the entire thing available for download at some point, but for now - Parts 1 through 26 include everything up to the middle of Idol. I've added my Clois clips from Idol and Pandora to the PLAYLIST, IN ORDER, so technically all of the moments are still available. That's the best I can do for now, sorry.

Best thing to do is just send the PLAYLIST to people and share it that way.

If/when I figure out another way I'll let you all know, but it very likely will have to be a down-loadable format.

In the meantime, hope you enjoy it - even though it's not ideal. Thanks everyone!

GEM

ETA: Saw that Green Arrow comic the other day and it's very exciting that the COMICS are now COPYING Smallville! I love it!

Smallville also recently bought MORE sets, so it seems pretty certain that season 10 is going to happen. Great news, and definitely a pleasant surprise. Every year I keep thinking it will be the last but the show just gets stronger and stronger. As long as they continue to improve the Clois relationship, add more Justice League elements and get rid of Chloe ... I swear this show could go on forever! I'd even love it if they brought Dean back to play Vandal Savage again! biggrin

Clois fans!! It's time! I finally finished the final version of "How Far We've Come!" Yep, that's right. Everything from Crusade to Pandora, all in one big and glorious video. It's almost like a beautiful, epic 5 hour movie all about our favorite couple! I actually added a few MORE clips to it as well, so it's a little bit bigger than originally thought. It started out at 4 hours long, now it is over 5 ... 5 hours and 11 minutes, to be precise!

So here is my big question ...

Is anyone interested in a downloadable version of it? I'm rendering the file now and I'm trying to see how much I can compress it. May end up having to make it into zip files, not sure. Either way, it will be huge ... over 1GB, unless I can manage to convert it and get it down to a smaller size somehow (if anyone has good suggestions for this please let me know).

I am very willing to make this available to my fellow Clois fans, because YOU are the reason why I started this project to begin with. It kills me that I can't share the entire thing on YouTube.

I won't bother spending more hours uploading it unless people really want it, though. So if you are interested, PLEASE let me know! Think of it as my Christmas present to you all. wink

I don't plan to post the link publicly because I don't want someone snagging it and trying to take credit for it somewhere down the line. Of course I don't expect anyone HERE to do that, I hope that's a given ... but there are always lurkers and it is THOSE people I worry about. I have literally put dozens and dozens of hours into this ... and with all the despicable video theft that has been occurring in the online community lately, I really don't want my hard work to be stolen. I'm sure you all understand.

In short - if you want a download link - please send me your e-mail address. You can e-mail me at supergem3[at]gmail.com (replace [at] with @) or DM me on Twitter if we're friends (I'm EquusFemina). Please be sure to put "How Far We've Come" in the subject line so I don't overlook or accidentally delete your message. Include your name, online nickname (if applicable, so I recognize you) and your e-mail address. I'll make a list and I'll get the link out to you all via e-mail once I have it uploaded!

I'd appreciate it if, once I do this, you guys don't share the links amongst yourselves, or post the link somewhere for anyone to find on the net. If I find out that the link has been distributed to people I don't know I'll just delete the link and then, unfortunately, everyone will lose. Sorry for being anal about it, but like I said ... and as I'm sure most of you are aware ... a lot of video theft has occurred and this is the one project I REALLY don't want to have stolen by some random person.

As for my "At the Beginning" Music Video that YouTube won't allow, I'm working on finishing that as well. Some of you may have noticed the preview clip from it that I uploaded last week, and if you have you know that it is blocked by YouTube. So it will also be a downloadable file. I'll post more here about it once it's complete.

Thanks again for the support, feedback and everything! I hope many of you will contact me soon about the download link, and I REALLY hope you'll enjoy the finished project once you get a chance to see it. In the meantime, Happy Holidays to all! smile

P.S. I also started a blog for my SuperGEM persona - and this info will be updated there. Link: http://supergem3.blogspot.com/2009/12/how-far-weve-come-download-version-info.html
