Officially, it is 19 years since Harry defeated Voldemort. Real life finally caught up with the Potterverse.
My daughter has just started reading the books, and helping her little sister to the same, this summer. They've seen the movies and I've warned them the books will be very different with much more detail. They might even see the characters differently in their imaginations.
I'm looking forward to their reactions to some of the events that I still haven't come to accept myself. Sirius's death being the foremost and the one that frustrates me the most. (Why, JKR? Why? And why Fred? I loved the twins! Especially their departure from Hogwarts.)
The 11 yo has already expressed glee over the decription of Neville "heroics" winning the House Cup, just as I did when I first read TSS.
I'm trying my best to experience the books for the first time again through my girls.

Okay. I can't stay away for long. tongue I can see them now at the train platform with all their kids.
I'm feeling too old.
